aspiring design challenge

Most of you may know me from my other hat that I wear – Designer Stitch School of Fashion and Design – but if not here is my alter “ego”.

In my working and teaching life I have made many thousands of patterns for both a commercial environment and also for personal use for my students. After many requests and encouragement from both my family and students I have decided to develop and release an on-going collection of women’s PDF sewing patterns with an emphasis on current fashion styling.

As a catalyst to get my range developed and released I decided to join a small Facebook group of PDF pattern designers called the Swhetty Betties.

The ethos of the Swhetty Betties are as follows :(snipped from their site here)

“The AD Challenge was organized by the Swhetty Betties.Β  This is our working pattern designer group that offers support, help and friendship for small time PDF Pattern Designers.”

“Each of the aspiring designers in this group are actively working to create and release a new pattern at least each 6 months. To encourage new designers to continue working, the Betties organized the Aspiring Designer Challenges. These challenges happen quarterly and you can check our previous challenges on Pattern Revolution. Designers create their pattern, call for testers in their Betties Baskets and Promotions Group and then blog about and release their pattern. It is a great opportunity for new designers to get their name out there and to promote their designs.”

There are 7 designers involved in the May pattern release and each and everyone are worthy of the title of an exceptional PDF Pattern Designer.

As part of my collection release there are a core group of 9 patterns and many more have been developed and are waiting release.

My pattern release is for today – Wednesday 18th May – and I have decided to feature the Jenny Dress.

So I hope you will join me in my journey of designing, sewing, and style launches over the coming months and years.

Please join my newsletter here to stay up-to-date with all that will be happening at DesignerStitch.

Cheerio and Kind Regards.

Ann. xx
