Hello Designer Stitchers! My name is Amie, and I live in Southern California. For my Paige skirt, I chose the shortest length because I am quite short myself, and I felt the other lengths may be a bit too long. I made my skirt using a super lightweight denim by Art Gallery Fabrics and sold at Phee Fabrics. https://pheefabrics.com/deep-ocean-denim/
The color I chose is “Deep Ocean” and I love it because I can pair it with anything! A twin needle works great for most of the top stitching on this skirt and gives it a more professional finish. Be sure the have a full spool of thread for top stitching, as you don’t want to run out in the middle of your project. My favorite thing about making this skirt is how the pockets come together. It is pure genius! I wore my skirt out to go strawberry picking and was so comfortable and cool, even though it was a hot day. The thing I love most about my Paige skirt is that I can dress it down with sandals, and I can dress it up with heels too! I hope you enjoy your new Paige skirt as much as I do! Hi, I’m Carmen from Adel. I choose the shortest length for my Paige because I wanted something cute and fun and cool for hot summers. I used a non-stretch white denim I purchased from my local Walmart and dyed it cherry red because white just won’t stay clean for long. I top stitched everything with a white thread for contrast. It really pops! Paige is so easy to sew and the instructions are really straightforward. The one point of the sewing process which I found difficult were the pockets and that’s only because I didn’t take my time. Learn from my mistake and take your time on that part. The rest is smooth sailing. One other thing I would like to mention was the zipper installation. Just perfect. Simple. Easy to understand.
I styled my Paige with a neutral pair of wedges, but I’ve seen others wear heels. This skirt is so versatile and stylish enough for work attire and even a night on the town with your significant other.

Hi all, I’m Ilse from @sewsewilse and I live in Belgium. Jeans seemed to me the perfect fabric for my knee length Paige. Perfect because I wanted to topstitch with a contrast thread and I love to do that! I styled my Paige with a Bridget in crepe. I think I already made 4 of them!
The Paige is a winner, for sure!

Hi all! I’m José VW and I’m from the Netherlands 💗. As we proceed to our summer overhere I got the opportunity to make a few Paige skirts. Let me tell you: This pattern you NEED to have. It’s a fun one, not too complicated but sooo great in fit and to combine! I had to call in all my friends to decide what to wear with it because it’s such a versatile piece. I’ve made the 50 cm length and with my length (1.67m) is a really good length to wear casually bit it would work really good for work too.
I had so much fun, because the topstitching is really making all te difference. I ended up topstitching with double thread to have a nice thick stitching. A long stitch length and taking my time really made all the difference. And as usual the zipper instruction is clear and easy to follow, perfect results everytime.
I’ve used a Grey denim and a mid blue denim which I bought at my local fabric outdoor market. I picked a classic copper thread color so the skirts are very versatile.
As final finishing touch I washed and sanded the denim to give it a stonewashed finish. I can’t tell you how much I loved this, it made all the difference 🤩💕. Don’t be afraid to try it.
After thorough wardrobe session with my friends all chiming in we decided on a few combinations. I’ve combined with a strappy top and ankle boots, a sleeveless top and cowboy boots and a button up with strappy heels. I’ve worn it with a cropped off shoulder piece too, with some flats or sneakers and you’re ready to go.
I’ve gotten so many compliments already: sexy, sassy, stylish, awesome, catcalls and my favorite: let me have it😉😜

Hello, I am Kelly from California.

I chose to do the shortest length of the Paige for both of my versions because I really like to show off my legs!

My denim I picked up from a destash group, and my fake leather came from my local fabric market.

When you’re ready to sew, pay attention to marking your pocket corners correctly and snipping in far enough for a crisp corner.

I really enjoyed getting creative with the topstitching colors! Just make sure you have enough for the whole project before you start!

I showed my mom and grandma who both sew my Paige skirts – now I’m sewing one to send to my mom!

I love how versatile this skirt is. Using different material and colors of topstitching can really change the look. My denim Paige pairs perfectly with some cute sandals and a comfy tee or blouse (or pulled on over your swimsuit!) My fake leather version with gold topstitching needs some heels and a funky top to show it off 🙂

Hi everyone, I’m Liz & I live in a village in Berkshire UK. This was my first pattern test for DS & feel that I have learned so much from the process & from the posts from others here in the testing group – thank you. I chose to make the 50cm length version of the Paige skirt as I wanted it to be above my knee but still modest in look. I chose a denim from my stash as it’s still difficult to buy fabric here. There are some online shops open but it’s difficult to know the quality. I’d like to recreate my favourite ever skirt (which is about 18 years old & starting to fall apart 😂) by using a dark grey cotton twill when shops are open again.

The pocket panels look a bit daunting to start with but follow the instructions given & they will turn out perfectly. I was unable to get top stitching thread so I doubled up on regular thread instead which worked fine & gave me more choices of colour. After making the toile for the first fit, & making the suggested adjustments, I was excited to make my ‘final’ skirt as I knew I would be able to produce a great fitting skirt that I would be comfortable to wear.

I haven’t been out very much yet, as we are still in semi lockdown, but I have had complements from my family. The best one was from my daughter who asked which shop I had purchased it from! I wore the skirt with a floaty blouse for the photos but I know it will also look great as a more casual skirt with a T shirt & Converse.

I usually make children’s clothing so it was a real treat to make something for myself.

Thank you for having me as part of the testing team, it’s been a lot of fun 😘😘

Hello dear sewists 🤗. I’m Melissa and I live in the high desert of Colorado, USA. I chose the shortest Paige as we are nearing summer and it gets quite hot here. It’s also such a flirty little peice with flats, sandals, and tennies!
I made my toile from a cotton duck and my final from a soft middle weight denim because my sweet Olivia wanted a classic denim skirt!
Both of these pieces were in my stash, but they originally came from Hobby Lobby. The Paige is such a straight forward sew that once you have fit it it’s a breeze. Take your time with your pattern adjustments. I used Ann’s fitting pages and adjusted the front center to pull my side seams into vertical. Worked perfectly!!! Our favorite thing about Paige is versatility!!! I topped stitched in red for fun and made it short however won’t it be adorable boot length with cowboy boots!!! I can’t wait🥰
Olivia has worn both skirts and finds them comfortable and fashionable!!!!! As we are in quarantine she’s not out much but drew lots of attention when we shot photos. She chose a simple close fitting t and a little summer espadrille sandal, and of course one of her favorite hats. Curves girls who have trouble buying this look in rtw,
Ann made another fabulous pattern!!!!
Run don’t walk and make yours. Thanks Ann you are the best❤️

Hey, it’s Narelle from Perth, Western Australia. I made the 55cm length which sat perfectly above my knee – not too short, not too long (and I’m 5 foot 8). My fabric is a non-stretch denim from Spotlight (and maroon corduroy for my tester that has been in my stash for years!).
The top-stitching is really what elevates this skirt into something supercute and professional-looking. Top-stitching thread really makes it pop, and using a different colours adds a fun details. I love the little popp of purply pink from my top-stitch thread. It’s worth the annoyance of having to rethread your machine multiple times.
I haven’t worn my Paige yet. As soon as I finished making it, the weather got freezing cold here. I need to get some tights and my long boots and start wearing it!
I’m stylng my Paige with a simple T-shirt and sandals for summer, and tights, tee, cardigan and boots for winter. I love that it can be worn all year round!

I’m Shilyn, and I live in Florida. I chose to make the shortest length because I’m short (5’3″) and I wanted something short for the summer! I chose a teal cotton denim with yellow topstitching for contrast.

The only difficult part of the skirt is sewing the panel corners together. Mark off the seam allowance for the corner of the panel (side front piece) when sewing, so you can stop there exactly. This will make it easier, and not pucker when sewing the bottom of the side front piece on.

I love how quick the Paige skirt comes together! I think my favorite part was seeing the contrasting thread elevate the design.

I have already worn my Paige skirt multiple times, and I’ve gotten compliments on the fit (as usual with DS patterns!). In the pictures, I’m styling my Paige skirt with a UTAmelie top I made, for a beach summer vibe. I plan on also being able to wear it to work with a button up tucked in, or tied at the waist. I think the simple silhouette of the skirt lends itself to being versatile in styling!

hi! My name is Sue P and I live in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I chose the mid-length version because I am 5’7” and I am too old for a short skirt! My fabric has been in my stash for several years and was purchased from Emma One Sock.
I highly recommend marking the seam allowances on the pocket portion of the skirt so you get a nice, crisp corner! Top stitch carefully as this is really the wow of the skirt.
I might be the weird one, but I just love topstitching!
I modeled my Paige with a sleeveless top I also made and these awesome sandals that lace up. I know this will be a go-to garment all year long! It will look so cute with a sweater and boots too.
I wore my skirt to work and got a, “Wow, so cute!” Plus, this is so comfortable!
