Hey, my lovely friends. Thank you for visiting with us for the first installment for the Rian Blouse Pattern Tester roundups.
And how fabulous our roadies are looking. Our testers show how the Rian Blouse is the perfect blend of simplicity and sophistication and is a wardrobe staple that transcends trends. Its intricate lace and pintuck details add a touch of femininity and elegance.
While the pintucking may seem daunting it actually isnt. The sewing instructions have great detailed steps on how to make your pleated piece which is then cut out with your relevant pattern piece.
And then the entredeux is inserted into the seams when you connect the main pieces to create the main body.
Our roadies used a myriad of prints, and you will see that each blouse looks absolutely fabulous.
So please my friends – a huge WOOT WOOT for all that is stunning and gorgeous for our new Rian Blouse and our ever fabulous pattern testers.

Synthia Lee Gerritson. I just love my version of the Rian blouse. I have never sewn with this Ladder lace and pin tucks, well worth the effort. I made the long sleeve version and used cotton poplin fabric. I really like how comfortable this blouse wears, can use a belt or not. I recommend using the size of ladder lace and fabric for best results. I have plans on making a black one, maybe hack into a dress. Thank you, DS, for another fun design. https://sewsynsewn.blogspot.com/
Hi everyone! My name is Ashley Riley, and I live in the beautiful city of London. I recently completed sewing the Rian, and I couldn’t wait to share my experience with you all! I choose a stunning cotton poplin from ABC Fabric for my Rian. It’s such a versatile fabric and worked beautifully for this project.
My sewing tips for the Rian: Pin tucks are a focal point of this pattern, so my biggest tip is to take your time! Practice on some scrap fabric first to get the hang of it before moving to the actual garment. Trust me, patience pays off when it comes to achieving those crisp tucks.
For my Rian, I went with a timeless look that really showcases the pin tucks paired with some jeans. I kept it classic to let the details speak for themselves.
Being 5 feet tall, I had to shorten the pattern to fit my petite frame. Adjusting the length was crucial, but the pattern is flexible and easy to modify. I’ve already worn my Rian, and let me tell you, the compliments rolled in! Friends admired the pin tuck detail and the overall fit. It’s always rewarding when others notice your hard work.

My name is Carmen, I live in Barcelona. Spain.
I bought the fabric on a visit to Pamplona, in a local shop. It is a thin cotton poplin.
I had never sewn a similar garment before, with pintucks and entredeux. It has been a very good sewing exercise.
The most complicated part is to sew the pintucks lined up, so I recommend to try it on a scrap to practice it. I also
advise you to mark the orientation of the central pieces of the front with chalk or frixion marker, to make it easier to assemble the pieces.
I chose the long sleeves option.
I shortened the shoulders by 1 cm and the cuffs by 4 cm.
I haven’t been able to wear the blouse yet, as the weather it’s still cold. I’m looking forward to it, I think I’ll be wearing this blouse a lot, it’s a beautiful and versatile design.
I would like to sew the French sleeve version as well. With a solid colour fabric.

Hello everyone, this is Kiran and I’m from Singapore. As much as sewing as my passion, is the details in the garments that I crave for. The Rian blouse is not short on those. Starting with the beautiful and intricate pintucks, down to the very precisely measured entredeux lace, and culminating in the delicate gathers on the front and back of the bodice, this blouse is a label of love as well as a work of art. It may make you scream bloody murder while sewing it, but looks will kill when you wear it
During the course of my sew, I was sure to take it slower, especially when sewing the very tiny pintucks. Aligning them is another detail that required precision and I had to redo it several times. With the decision to have done my pintucks in contrasting thread colour, the misalignment would be a mistake that would be jarringly obvious.
This pattern is designed with cotton poplin in mind, and I used the very lightest version of poplin I could find. I love the floral print and black lace was the easiest I could find as the shop I went to did not have other colours available. Sizing this blouse was fairly easy because the intended look is slightly billowy and relaxed. I would love to sew up another Rian but I will have to hunt down more colours for entredeux lace in my town
“The new Rian Blouse is just “next level”, the gorgeous entredeux trim and the pin tucks and the shape … so flattering, pretty and just adorable. I love it.”
Hi, I’m Meredith and I’m from Sydney Australia. I chose an organic cotton poplin for my Rian. The poplin gives the pleats such a beautiful crisp look, yet is soft enough for a beautiful drape. I bought the poplin from Spotlight Stores.
The Rian is a relatively easy make, but you do need to go slowly and pay attention to Ann’s very detailed instructions. Lining up the pin tucks and making sure that the entredeux trim is only 6mm wide so that everything lines up is important for this blouse.
I made a size 3 and graded to a 5 at the hips. The pattern has a lot of ease, but I wanted to be sure that it wasn’t pulling across my hips.
It’s a rainy evening today, and I have decided to wear my blouse tonight for our local trivia at the pub. I know I will get a lot of comments on the blouse. I LOVE it

Hi, I’m Sandra from the Netherlands! Wow, the new Rian blouse is sooo beautiful and diverse. I love the entredeaux and pleats! Its getting spring here, so blouse season . Had no specific style in mind. Rian blouse is for every occasion. The only adjustment I made was lenghten 2cm (im 1,75 tall). My tip would be: just follow the steps! I will definately make more Rian blouses❤️
Hey Sophie from Vienna here ♀️
Creating the Rian blouse was an absolute joy! From the pintucks to adding the trimming and assembling the front bodice. I am so pleased with the way this turned out. I made a straight size 5 and 3/4 sleeves option in poplin from my local fabric store.
I wore it to a recent girls lunch date and they were all super impressed
I plan on making a couple more in different colors very soon.

Hello Lovelies, this is Brenda from the Netherlands.
I’ve made 2 Rian blouses and let me tell you, I adore both of them.
My first one, the blue one, has different sleeves than the pattern includes, because of changes along the way. The 2nd one, the black and white skull one, has the most beautiful long sleeves.
I love the combination of the delicate entredeux, the crisp pintucks and the thoughish print .I would say it matches my personality perfectly.
The blouse is not a hard make, but you do need a bit of time to execute all pintucks well. So just breath and carry on in a steady pace.
For the blouse I only did my usual alterations.
I’m looking forward to wearing mine, but I’m waiting for slightly warmer weather.
