Developed for jersey fabrics the pants can be made in a myriad of fabric weights along with a range of styling options.
The Shakti can be your TNT all day easy wear garment – straight from the beach right through to relaxed work wear.
And they would easily translate into an upmarket make for dinner and evening wear.
The styling of the Shakti offers 4 different leg options- Side Ruched , Drawstring, Straight, and Bell –
Along with 3 Waistband options – Standard, Yoga, and Ruched Yoga –
Along with the option of Pockets.
The Shakti look great in all weights of light to medium weight fabrics.
The construction of the Shakti Jersey Pants is recommended for advanced beginner/intermediate levels due to:
- Waistband/Elastic application
- Curved Front Inset Pockets
- Side Ruching or Drawstring Lengths
- A very good knowledge of your own personal fitting requirements as the pattern offers the opportunity to fine-tune the fit of your garment

The pattern drafting is spot on, a given with any Designer Stitch pattern, and the options that are available with this pattern make this a year round tried-and-true pattern for me. I love this pattern so much and will be making several more. It is a fun and easy sew. Easy to follow instructions with a stunning result. I made the bell bottoms with ruched yoga waistband and bell bottoms with yoga waistband. I can’t wait to try the ruched side option. I can see these pants (all options) filling up my wardrobe! I made the Bell Version of the Shakti Pants with no pockets (I know … I’m crazy) and it was SUCH a quick sewing project. I literally made a pair for work, before leaving for work. My hubby was like, “did you just make those? in one sitting?” Well, yes, I did! They’re comfy and the instructions are easy to follow! I made my pair with ponte for a nice, work-appropriate pair of pants and it feels like I’m wearing yoga pants. Comfy and stylish = a win!

This was my first Designer Stitch patter. Those side ties are the cutest! It fit me spot on from the first try. I didn’t have to make any adjustments. If you are using very stretchy fabrics like rayon and the types, I recommend sizing down.
