The pattern also includes a standard skirt base without ruching and offers options for elbow-length or long sleeves, along with three different skirt lengths: 55 cm, 60 cm, and 75 cm. I chose the shortest skirt length, with ruching at both the front and back, and opted for elbow sleeves. The pattern recommends using jersey knit fabrics that have good drape and offer at least 50% stretch horizontally and 25% vertically. I used ITY fabric from my stash, which worked well because it was light enough for gathering and had a good drape. The collar was the trickiest part of the construction, but after taking my time to read through the instructions, it turned out to be simpler than I had expected! The Shelby dress has amazing details. Beginning with front and back keyhole necklines, twist front collar, and the fabulous statement sleeves! Shelby is drafted for jersey knit fabrics. The skirt has an empire waist with great gore inset for a slim hip fit that ends with a flare at the hem. I made this dress from knit in my stash that had been waiting for the right pattern. Black jersey knit with a gold metallic thread. With the fabulous details of the dress it is perfect for all of my holiday needs. Fabulous fabric choice. ♥️ reposted • @macusewinglove ❤️👗 SHELBY By @designerstitch Hello sewing friends ☺️ I am Macu from Spain and the Shelby dress pattern was love at first sight ❤️ The fit is very flattering due to the curved vertical panels on both the front and back body (with it without ruching) and the twisted neckline. I am really obsessed with that dress 👗 This Dandelion print elastic tulle was one of my treasure fabrics bought in Barcelona last July in the “Encants flea market “ and I thought it perfect for Shelby. 👗 I made my wearable toile with another fabric that had been 4 years in my stash for being to dark for my liking - The thing is I DO love the result ❤️ I chose long sleeve as it’s Autumn 🍂 up in the North and I tried the version without the ruching first and it was amazing but I made the second with the ruching after seeing @carmen.cose version, and I love it too. Which version do you prefer? Anyway, for this dress you need an elastic fabric with good drape , I also made made some shoulders wings out of stiff tulle to enhance the sleeves. Adding cuffs for full length sleeves is in my mind. I required no alterations at all and given the pattern comes with different cup sizes makes it simpler and easier. I wore my Shelby n1 to work last week and I had a meeting where many colleagues commented they loved my 👗 I want to take part in the #sewingchallenge #otoñoretorno hold by @carmen.cose & @tallerlili_espaciocreativo with my first long sleeve dress of the season and this autumn shades 🍂 Also #magamsewalong #magamnovelnovember run by @suestoney @sewing_in_spain and @finishedseams for using tulle for this project that even of it’s one of my favourites fabrics, it’s still unusual of unconventional for making garments but it’s in trend and you can find in the DESIGUAL shop, always original and breaking the rules! #designerstitch #designerstitchpatterns #knit #knitdress #SewOver60 #SewOver50November24 #SewOver50 #patterntest #so50visible #cosidoresmallorca #sewersgonnasew #elhiloquenosune #oodt
