Hello lovelies, Kiran here from Singapore. I’ll be telling you about my favorite Designer Stitch sew yet. The Wren is super comfortable and I have worn it multiple times since sewing it. Both together and as separates with a solid coloured coordinate.
I loved how easy it was to sew up and the hem on the top is amazingly unique. I was caught up in finishing it fast and ended up sewing my buttonholes on the wrong placket!! Dont be like me, read your instructions. Ann writes them perfectly!
I sewed my Wren set in some fabulous, printed rayon i scored during a pre-covid trip to India. I like how the print is a little different for the top and pants, but the swirl element ties it together.
I’m so excited to see everyone’s Wren sets! Sew them and post it in the FB group.

Hi, My name is Meiling and I am from Perth, Western Australia.
I loved how my Wren set turned out and can’t wait to wear them on my family holiday to Bali!
I made the shorts and top. I didn’t need to make any alterations to my set. It was a generally quick sew but what threw me was using a Crepe fabric which had a slight stretch and the button facings did not want to play nicely. I would suggest sticking to the recommended fabrics
I made two sets, one in a crepe and the other in a nice soft printed cotton flax material both from my local Spotlight store.

Hi, this is Christine M from the Netherlands. I love the Wren set so much, I had to make another set after completing the first. They are not hard to make, so I’m thi king a out a third set. The first one is made in a viscose/linnen blend in a bold print. It is so soft and flowy. Then I came across this very this cotton chambray in dark blue and a satin topcoat. So I have to keep on moving to show the beautiful shine of the fabric. Be careful when ironing this fabric. The topcoat could melt, so I did all the ironing from the inside. 2. What fabric combinations did you choose and where did you purchase
My blue fabric was bought at The Sewing Basket.
The Mediterranean print was bought at Spotlight.

3. What sewing tips can you share when sewing the Wren?

Find a drapey fabric that you want to swan about it. I mean really swan about in no matter where you are. Wren is the set that will make you believe you live an amazing life that you want to share with people. Know your height and weight. I’m now officially 150cm tall. I’ve lost some height so sewing seams that can be resewn. I didn’t sew French seams on these versions and as much as I’d like to, basic open seams that are overlocked work like a dreams.
This is a very easy pattern to sew.

4. What was your style choice for the Wren ?
The shorts and shirt set was my wearable toile. This is a print to play with and the shorts length hits right where my cycling nix tan starts so I’m good with the length of the shorts. The pants version for this multi colour print is the ‘white’ set I really love wearing.

5. What fit alterations did you have to make to the Wren?

I’m short so I took 2cm out of the sleeve length. This length was taken out 5cm above the sleeve hem.
On the back blouse, I took out 4 cm so the hem sat at my mid butt length at the back. This affected the side seams. They’re shorter than taller versions.
For the pants, I took out 6cm from the leg length at the knee.
I shortened the centre front seam by 4cm and zeroed it at the side seam.
The Raven cami is 4cm shorter at the high hip. I also lengthened the internal facing to create a bust shelf that works.

6. Have you worn your Wren yet and what compliments did you receive.
My plain colour wearing husband did a double take and loved both looks. I think he wanted a set of his own. Thanks Ann for this design.

7. Any plans for future combinations of the Wren?
I’m planning on sewing another version once I find the perfect print.

Hi there. My name is Taryn. I live in the beautiful city of Cape Town, South Africa. I made 2 Wren sets, one for myself in a beautiful floral viscose print already in my stash and one for my teen daughter in a wonderful animal print crepe I purchased at a local store called Fabric Friends that sells fabric pieces by weight. I stay stitched the upper collar piece without interfacing as this helped it keep its shape and not stretch out a little when attaching the 2 pieces. As we are heading into our cooler months here in South Africa, I chose to go with the long pants version. This was also my daughter’s preference. No fit adjustments where needed for my daughter’s set but for mine, I did follow the tutorial and added in an additional cm to the crotch depth on mine. My Wren will have its debut this Easter weekend. I have a couple of pieces of Armani satin prints which I am hoping will be enough for a Wren Shorts set. I also recently spotted some inspiration which included a little sparkle on the button band and collar which I think would also be a wonderful way to make a plain version pop. Hi everyone, I’m Tina from Southern California and I’m here to share my Wren set with you! Summer is around the corner for us, so I of course had to make the shorts option to wear on my vacation. I had this custom fabric printed in-house a couple years back from Olga’s Fabric in Wool Dobby Chiffon and swim base. I love how easy this set was to sew up and besides sizing down one size for the shorts, no adjustments were made. You can easily dress this set up depending on the fabric you choose. Since I plan on wearing it during my cruise I made a swimsuit in the same print for a monochromatic look! I plan on making the pants set in a Rayon challis for wear in the evenings and dinner. Don’t let the hidden button placket intimate you, it’s pretty easy. My recommendation would be to use lightweight wovens so it doesn’t get too thick with all the layers in the placket. Happy sewing!

Hi, I’m Barbara in Northeastern Mississippi, USA!
My DD’s Wren Set was made using a Kelly Green Rayon Challis that I purchased from fabricwholesaledirect.com. DD’s Wren Set included the Blouse, Cami, and wide leg full-length pants. My tip for sewing the Wren Set with Rayon Challis: baste a 1/4 stitch around the front and back collar opening, as rayon challis tends to stretch. DD’s Wren Set had several that includes a 1″ forward shoulder adjustment, crotch lengthening and then shortening the pants length by several inches for her petite frame. DD has not worn her Wren Set yet, but will on her upcoming Cruise to the Bahamas!

Hi I’m Jen from rural eastern California! I made the Wren shorts/ Raven top combo out of viscose (shorts) and silk charmeuse. My shorts fabric is from Mill Outlet fabrics in Reno, NV, and my top fabric is silk charmeuse from Mood. I altered the pockets to be a bit deeper because I like my phone to be really secure in there. I have worn my set already and it’s so comfy. My fiancé thought it was very cute. The shorts are so comfortable I accidentally fell asleep in them! I’d like to make some silk shorts too for an extra fancy set. I’d also like to try the print on print at some point, I didn’t have any fabric that would work this time around. Hey, I’m Girl in Uniform Lieve from Ghent, Belgium. I only tested the Wren trousers and made them in a cute floral crinkle cotton. The Wren trousers are not difficult to sew at all and every step is well explained in the instructions. Notice especially the elastic waistband, which means you don’t even have to sew a zip in these cute, easy trousers. For the occasion, I paired the Wren trousers with a summery Raven cami, the perfect look for a sunny spring. Want to see more from me?
