Hello my name is Elise and I am from Queensland, Australia. This top is super cute and I am so impressed with how it turned out. I have done a bit of upcycling and given new life to a beautiful vintage cotton table cloth. While the flutters look complicated, they really are not, Ann’s instructions are so easy to follow. It is the middle of winter here, so whilst I took my final styled for the summer, I have been styling with a turtle neck and a fitted middle skirt. This shirt is spectacular is any fabric with a boarder.

hello! I’m Sue and I live in South Dakota. I had a blast making my Freya. You have many different choices when creating it. I love pattern options! I chose this border print for my top that’s been in my stash just waiting for the perfect project. For this option, I made only the neck ruffle.
My tips would be to gather your ruffles very evenly as they are really the highlight of the garment.
In South Dakota, we have had blazing hot weather and I’ve loved wearing my Freya.
I have another version almost finished and a third planned.
Thanks for reading!
Sue

Hey there! Here is Marieke from the Netherlands.
I’ve got a bit of a thing for blouses—especially the sleeveless kind- I think that has someone to do because I am from the Netherlands- when the temperature is finally rising for a super short of time- the arms should get some sun as well, right? But I do wear them all year long: with shorts in the summer for a casual look, tucked into a cool skirt when I feel dressy, and layered under a jacket when the weather can’t make up its mind…Well, welcome to the Netherlands
I love this blouse especially because it fits nicely around the chest but still it’s hide the bits I’m not in the mood to show off (you get me, right? ).
And when a pattern comes with loads of options? Oh yes—that’s just gold! That’s the kind of pattern you keep forever and keep coming back to.
I’ve tested all the variations, but I must say… the simple style is absolutely fitting my style the best. But I did worn them all already! And I do love them all. It’s pretty easy to wear them: pick a fabric you like, sew the blouse, which isn’t a biggie and wear it with whatever bottom you like. Add some bling or just for ‘so’ and you are ready When you are curious please check out my Insta: https:www.instagram.com/jongdesign

Greetings from Vienna Sophie M here.
I made the simple version of Freya. I love the v-neckline.
I have worn it with dressy pants, skirts, shorts and my uniform of denim
This particular top has been claimed my dear colleague, but I have fabric for more just need more hours in the day
I can’t wait to see what you all make. ❤️

Hi Ann,
1. Pauline and I live in Singapore
2. I chose to use this embroidered cotton that I got off a fabric shop in Chinatown.
3. I would suggest planning which part of the fabric to show before cutting into them. Do also check the instructions for seam allowances as the darts require 1/4” only so do take note.
4. I have been trying to find patterns suitable for me to sew up so I can wear with my skirts and shorts.
5. I made a straight size and didn’t need to blend for my waist size so yay!
6. Yes I have and my friends and family loved my new top too! I really like the shoulder ruffles!!
7. I am now looking for other embroidered cotton fabric for me to sew up more Freya! Definitely will do the shoulder ruffles.

Hi, my name is Synthia, I have made two Freya’s. I love this top. Can I say I recently has surgery and had to wear a button down top, I wore the Freya and did I get compliments from the nurses on what a lovely top, it made my day. Both tops are made with the neck ruffle only and in cotton fabric. The Freya has made great summer tops for this Ca weather at this time. Tips: when using the inserted side ruffle with fabric that frays easily, I have found a beading of fabric glue on the seams really helps, especially where the serger won’t reach. Great top Ann Grose https://sewsynsewn.blogspot.com

Hey my name is Candice and I live in Townsville, Queensland. I decided to use a blue and yellow floral making the Freya top with all the frills. I also made a second one with blue and white stripes with just the shoulder frills. Both fabrics were purchased from spotlight. The Freya top is such a nice simple sew as long as you take your time on the frills and measure your button placements. I made no alterations to the pattern and it fits perfectly! As it is winter I’ll be waiting until summer to wear these tops with cute skirts and shorts. My Instagram link is: https://www.instagram.com/projectsbycandy

1. Deidre R, Brisbane, Qld, Australia
2. Japanese embroidered cotton lawn bought on a MarketPlace fabric destash group
3. Freya is a loose fit, so there is a bit of wiggle room on sizing depending on your prefereneces. As always make a toile first to check fit and adjust as needed. I ended up sizing down a cup size and down two sizes at the bust and kept the hip the same.
4. I chose the gorgeous frills over the shoulder to make use of the lovely border and cut the hem straight to also enjoy the border detail
5. I needed to grade between several sizes to accomodate a difference between bust and hip. I also needed to shorten it slightly to have it land at the desired point on my body. The loose fit makes it so easy and means less adjustments needed for fit. Win.
6. It is winter here at the moment so I only wore it briefly for photos. I then have shown the photos to friends, family and colleages, all of whom love both the fabric and style – especially those shoulder details. My one in-real-life sewing friend loved that the dart is included with the shoulder detail for anyone with a C cup or less – so clever.
7. I plan to make a matching skirt to go with my Freya top and have dreams of turning it into a dress version too. I can see a few more Freya tops in my future.

hello, I’m Nadine and I love in Belgium.
I have sewn my freya in a Cotton that looks like Liberty but it isn’t. I bought it at my local market. I have sewn the shoulder ruffle version with a curved hem.
My tip is to take your Time and all will be good.
I have sewn a size 6 cup C based on my bust mensuration. I didn’t do any fit altération because I love how it fits on me.
I have worn my freya at work this week. The weather was so hot in Belgium and everybody Said that I look beautiful. I felt classy and I didn’t have too hot.
I think that I will sew soon a new version without ruffle in a viscose fabric.

I’m Sarah and I live in the UK
My fabric is a crepe fabric which I bought from abc fabrics in the UK
My sewing tips are don’t forget Ann has some fantastic tutorials on her website if you aren’t sure of how to do something. The buttons ones are very helpful.
I chose to do the straight hem with no ruffles, but I have another one cut out ready to go which will have the neck ruffles on it as the other testers versions look so cute with this detail.
I made a size 5 bust, using the c cup pattern and graded to a size 6 waist and hips.
I’ve worn my Freya top with cropped jeans in the mini heatwave in the UK and its been so light and easy to wear in the heat.
